RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT

The GOTS, or Global Organic Textile Standard, is one of the few labels certifying production that is both environmentally-friendly and socially ethical.

Maglificio Tonello has achieved the most stringent certification labels for its knitting production cycle: the Global Organic Textile Standard.
The GOTS label is more than just a guarantee of the origin of the textile fibre; it is a guarantee that every single aspect of production, from the growing of the raw material to the finished product, has been assessed. By dictating the rules at every step, GOTS makes the entire textile supply chain more ethical, sustainable and transparent.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARD

GOTS is recognised as the most important international standard for sustainable production of clothes and textile products made from organic natural fibres.
In addition to complying with relevant national laws, every activity and production process that may have repercussions on workers and the environment must also respect the social and environment management rules imposed by GOTS certification.
GOTS-certified companies must meet the standard’s stringent environmental and social criteria, which are enforced by the relevant control bodies.

CERTIFICATION

The Global Organic Textile Standard is promoted by the leading organic farming organisations worldwide to ensure responsible and sustainable development of the textile industry. Thanks to the global recognition of the standard, producers and traders of organic textile products can now operate under a certification accepted in all major markets.

The GOTS organisation issues an environmental certificate verified by an approved third party certifying: the organic natural fibre content in the intermediate or finished product; traceability across the entire production process; restricted chemical use; and compliance with environmental and social criteria at every step of the chain, from harvesting of the natural fibres at the field to the manufacturing stages that follow, all the way to labelling of the finished product.
